South Korea Approves Apple iPhone Sale

The Apple iPhone has been approved for sale in South Korea. The country’s telecom regulators approved the sale of the eagerly anticipated device in a meeting of its’ five commissioners.

The South Korean cellular phone market is largely dominated by local companies like LG Electronics Inc. and Samsung Electronics Inc. The introduction of the icon will probably shake up the local market and Apple can expect stiff competition from the domestic cellular phone manufacturing industry.

This development is seen as an expansion of Apple Inc’s Asian market ambitions like its entrance to China’s massive cellular phone market through China Unicom

Social Media and Promotion for your Online Business

It is already a given fact that selling stuff online is one of the best ways you can earn the big bucks. However, you would also need to do your own marketing here, which isn’t exactly a piece of cake especially for beginners.

So, what should you do? The most common answer would be to create a buzz. By doing this, you’d also be stirring up the curiosity of other potential buyers. But how can you do it? Here are some simple steps:

1. Hold out a competition where your product is the prize for the winners.

This is one of the most famous and effective techniques of all time. For example, you can offer 20 free samples of your product for the ones that will share, through the comment box, their heaviest problem they have that would need your product to solve it.

This can make anyone interested in your product instantly write his or her issue right away. And then, after a couple of days, just when you already have a couple of hundred comments on your page, you should now announce that you are overwhelmed with the response, so you’ll just offer your product now for a discounted price: the first couple of people who will email you can get them up to half price off. Some of your readers may still feel hesitant, but once they see the hundreds of responses your promo has gotten, surely a lot more will now want your product.

2. Create a buzz using different social networking sites.
This is the very reason why Twitter, Facebook, and various blogs are essential when you’re online marketing. You can go ask your friends to tweet about it, and just plainly mention your product on their blogs. And then, write another post on how overwhelmed you are with the responses on your previous post. This will redirect your new readers to the competition page, making them see how much in demand your product is.

3. Always assess your market correctly.
For example, your product is not that popular yet, so you should start with small numbers instead. Instead of twenty, start with five to ten.

If these methods are done correctly, your sales will surely skyrocket, letting you really earn tons from your online business.

Facebook Typing Maniac

If you are one of those Facebook users who love to challenge their typing speed, then Typing Maniac is the application you need to try.

Typing Maniac is not your ordinary typing game. It neither calculate your typing speed, nor tell you how many words per minute can you type. But, it does challenge you to finish as many levels as you can, and compare your scores with your friends, or with the other Facebook users.

On your first try of this game, you might get a very low score, and even be surprised to see your friends’ high scores. I wonder how will you feel seeing the world record.

Well, if you know the rules, and you are a fast typer, you will easily get through this game and get high scores.

How to play the game?

The rules of  Typing Maniac are simple. While the tiles are going down, just type as many words as you can before the tiles reach the bottom. If you complete a level without any errors you get bonus points.

There are colored tiles though, which you should not avoid. Once you know how to use them, these colored tiles are your best friends in this game. They are the power-ups that will help you level up.

So how do you get and use these special tiles? First, you need to type the word in the colored tiles. The blue tile corresponds to ICE. The red tile corresponds to FIRE. The yellow is for SLOW, and purple is for WIND. If you have typed the word right in the colored tile, the special tile would go to the container at the right side. The tile sits there until you use it.

When you want to use them, just type the word FIRE, ICE, SLOW, or WIND. (You don’t need to capitalize. I just made it caps lock to emphasize.)

  • FIRE burns all the tiles currently on the screen. This helps if the tiles are almost at the bottom and you cannot type them all.
  • ICE freezes the tiles on the screen within a few seconds. It allows you then to type as many words as you can while it the tiles are frozen.
  • SLOW slows down the speed of the tiles going down.
  • WIND brings back your error percentage back to zero, but your accuracy is still 0%. Wind will help you a lot complete the higher, faster levels.

You can only keep 6 tiles in the container, so plan what you want to keep. Some users keep 3 ICE and 3 WIND most of the time in higher levels. Some keep 3 SLOW and 3 WIND.

Can you cheat?

Yes you can. Some users were able to cheat in this game. However, I don’t recommend this. What’s the point of playing the game?

Mixx Gets Better

Here are some of the goodies updated for a whole new Mixx experience.

Twitter Integration
Integration with Twitter let members of Mixx Communities choose topics relevant to their communities and have latest updates delivered. Like if your Community is dedicated to Beijing Olympics, by inputting the search term with the words “Beijing Olympics”, you can get all the recent tweets with the keyword “Beijing Olympics”. Who wouldn’t want to know all the recent stuffs circulating about Beijing Olympics?

You can find these settings in the Editorial section of the Community Management panel. The people at Summize.com are the reason behind the search feature, which was recently acquired by Twitter and is now being used in Mixx.

Cleaner Navigation
Due to the overwhelming response of the new comment system, Mixx have come up with a better and faster way to get to all the new comment traffic. The number of comments coming in on Mixx each day doubled since its last installation on August 7. The Mixx story page will now house all the headlines on story lists around Mixx to be able to give comments quicker. Try to click the view story/photo/video link right next to the headline to get straight from the source.

Pagination
The “Next” button is now replaced with little “1 2 3 4 5 . . .” buttons of every page for easier navigation on which page you want to be. Its about time Mixx changes the “Next” button. Wouldn’t it be harder to get to the 100th page if you started from the 1st and just click the “Next” button?

YouTube on Captions

As more and more users are visiting YouTube, the development team is looking for more ways in providing users new and useful features to enhance their viewing experience and conquer a wider audience. One of this is the captioning feature that allows video owners to put captions on their videos that will give the viewers a better understanding of it. Captions can surely be handy especially to those with hearing disabilities or to those who speak other languages. It can also provide a better viewing experience when audio tracks are of poor quality.

To add captions on your videos, go to the “Captions and Subtitles” menu on the editing page and upload a closed caption file. You can upload multiple files if you wish to add several captions to a video. For foreign subtitles in multiple languages, there are over 120 languages to select from, you can upload a separate file for each language and add titles for each caption.

You can turn on/off video captions when watching a video by clicking the “up arrow” button found on the bottom right of the video player. Select the captions/subtitles menu button. If there are available captions/subtitles for the video, the button will be clickable. You can also change the language by clicking the “up arrow” button on the bottom right of the video player. Click the “left arrow” next to the captions/subtitles menu button. The button will only be available if there are any captions/subtitles for the video. Choose the language you want for the subtitles. Available languages you can choose for the subtitles depend on the video uploaders.

With the caption/subtitle feature, viewers can have a better understanding of the video they are watching. The only problem with subtitles is how accurate the translation is.

A lot of users have been requesting for a tool that can help them easily find and retrieve messages. Thus, they developed Inbox search to help Facebook users find messages easier. Facebook Goes Multilingual

Facebook goes Spanish just five months ago. After that launching, the internationalization team and its community translators are working out to translate the site into sixteen more languages. Facebook is now on French, German, Japanese, Chinese, and Italian. The language can be easily changed using the language selector found in the footer of the page.

Facebook caters to all users around the world and some of the users have difficulties understanding English. With the language selector, users who have difficulties understanding in English are helped. Thousands of people offered their hands to help translate Facebook into more than the sixteen released languages and the other eight in the process.

55 new languages are in line for translation by the community. Facebook opens new translations on languages such as additional Asian languages, African dialects, regional varieties like the British English and Canadian French, and even infrequently spoken languages like Latin and Esperanto.

As Facebook goes multilingual, it is opening a bigger door to more users especially to those with difficulties in English. It gives users a better access to the site knowing that they are familiar with the language being used. Though, problems will really occur when they are taking this big leap. One of this will be the inaccurate translation. Some languages do not have the exact words that can equal the meaning of the word. This can lead to confusion in the users’ side.

Friendster goes multilingual also. As the number of people joining social networking sites is increasing, it is best that it caters almost every user’s needs. As a social networking site, you don’t just cater to a specific race but to all. Later on, we will not just see these sites with limited language translations but with all the language translations and maybe hoping for local dialects as well.

Facebook Takes a New iPhone Experience

It has been a year already since Facebook launched its website for iPhone. Over 1.5 million people are now using it regularly. Due to the overwhelming amount of users visiting the website through their iPhones, Facebook is taking a new iPhone experience. Apple is now featuring the Facebook for iPhone, a new application for iPhone to access Facebook.

So what’s the difference between the iPhone website and the application? The iPhone application offers access to more technology than the website. One of its features is that you can instantly upload pictures taken from your iPhone cameras directly on Facebook. Application runs much faster than the website giving you faster access to inboxes, photos, and friends. It takes a lot of time waiting for the website’s contents and images to load up, while with the application, it’s all there.

One important feature showcased by Facebook for iPhone is the iPhone – Facebook Chat. Whether you’re using the application or the website and wherever you maybe, you’ll be able chat with your Facebook friends for free.

This is just the first version of Facebook for iPhone. Expect exciting features to be added in the near future. Facebook is coming up with ways to synchronize features with the iPhone. They are trying to look for ways on how to come up with a feature for iPhone’s Global Positioning System. Imagine yourself sharing locations with your Facebook friends and find out who’s on your location. Exciting new features are currently being developed and will be released in a few months. So expect better versions and features in the coming months.

It a great experience in taking social networking out of the World Wide Web walls. With cellular phones being man’s high-tech best friend due to its size and mobility, Facebook made a good choice of creating a portal to access the website through these tiny gadgets.
